PROFITS IN SUGAR
COLONIAL COMPANY'S BEPORT.

The Colonial Scgar Kenning Company's report for the half-year ended March showed the net profits to have been £396,104, of which £195,542 was from earnings in New Zealand and Fiji. A dividend at the rate of 12J per cent, per annum absorbed £304,657, and £78,040 was transferred to the rer'^.cement fund. The report showed that the Australian sugar crops in the past season exceeded the previous records. Those in Fiji -were much above the average. The prospects this year were not bo good, as rains have been insufficient. The sum of £315,636 undivided profits has been brought into account, and has left £307,053 to carry forward, after payment of tho dividend. It was decided to add £100,000 to tho reserve, raising it to £1,250,000. Tt was stated that tho recent fire at Adelaido had damaged tho worl;s to Hueh an extent that work cannot be re» iSiuucd before October. . '
