EMPIRE'S UNIVERSITIES
PROGRAMME OF CONGRESS.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) . LONDON, 4th March. The preliminary arrangements are now in hand regarding the programme of -Co third congress of the Universities of the Empire, 1926. : The congress will assemble in London on 12th July, and will adjourn to Cambridge next daj", where the Bight Hon. the Earl of Balfour,. Chancellor of the University of Cambridge and Chancellor of the University of Edinburgh, will preside. over the opening session which will discuss 'fThe State and the University." The Bight Hon. George, Viscount Cave, Lord High Chancellor and Chancellor of the University of Oxford,, will preside over the session which will have for discussion the subject,"The Desirability or Establishing in London a School of Advanced Legal Studies." When tho session considers '' Co-operation, in Besearch Throughout the Empire" the chairman will be the Most Hon. the Marquess of Londonderry, Chancellor of the Queen's University of Belfast. Other subjects arranged for the consideration of the congress include' the ''mutual recognition of examinations and of time spent in study elsewhere; the desirability of making provisiqn for the physical welfare and training of students and the organisation of athletics with a view to securing more general participation; tho actual working of the Ph.D. scheme; and the desirability of articulating other pension schemes with the federated superannuation system of Great Britain and Ireland."
