RACING FIXTURES. Jlay T. S— Marlborough E.C. Autumn, lay S—Amberley R.C. Annual. 'May 13, 15—Egmont R.C. Winter. Jllay 15—North Canterbury R.C. Autumn. May 20, 22-Wanganui J.C. Winter. June 1, 3, s—Dunedin J.C: Winter. June 3, 5, 7—Auckland K.C. Winter. General entries for the Auckland Winter Meeting are due to-morrow at 5 p.m. To judge by the acceptances the racing to-morrow at Blenheim should be quite good, for although the horses engaged are of just medium class they are of a sufficient average quality to be fairly well Better riders than usual will be attending the meeting, which should add to tho pleasure of the racing. Goosestep has incurred a 91b penalty for the Waterlea Cup, which may prove just a little too much and bring him. too near to Tanadees, who now will be racing on ground to suit him. This pair should occount for all the others. If Beaumont races up to. his best form lie will take all kinds of beating iv the Autumn Handicap. Birthmark lias earned a 141b penalty for his double victory at Nelson. If The Bolter has been improved by the operation for his wind infirmity he might beat .the top weights, but Beaumont's form Las been the best. In the minor races horses who appear Trell 'placed are The Bolter, Thomond, Phantasy, Ayrcvski, Printemps, Fillctte, .Watorlow, and Theodolite. Although the Paladin—Lovelorn and Paper Money—Killena yearlings accompanied Tresham and Royal Picture to Auckland, they are to go into F. Loomb's charge at Te Aroha, the older horses only going to N. Cunningham. Tresham and Royal Picture may go to Sydney to race during the winter. Gold Box is now being trained at Woodyille by J. Sullivan. J. Williamson is booked to leave for Sydney next month with the rising three-year-olds Newbury and Clarus, and possibly Pittsworth if he is not sold in the meantime. H. Wiggins is going across to do the riding. The Auckland Racing Club has installed the latest Gray barrier at the mile post at Ellerslie. It is claimed to have a very fast release, and is becoming generally adopted on Australian courses. Brightling, who made such a good impression when he won a novice race at Timaru recently, is to be trained in future by R. C. N. Reed at Wingatui. As Brightling is owned in Dunedin, no doubt that is the reason of the change from a Riccarton stable. A pleasing happening at the Waverley Meeting yesterday was L. A. Pine's return to the saddle. The Hawera light-weight has lost practically all the season through an accident at Mastcrton early in the spring, a broken arm, which stubbornly refused to mend, keeping him out of the laddie. As Pine is one of the best-behaved and competent riders about, his return should be welcomed both by owners and trainers. Although he failed to ride a winner yesterday he was second on San Red Wink is a regular visitor to the Riccarton tracks. His tasks are of. an easy description, and he will not be hurried, J. B. Pearson having decided to work him along quietly, iv the hope that he will be at his best about November. In the meantime he is quite sound, and it is to be hoped he will survive a preparation, as hef.will be a welcome candidate for big races next season.
