SHIELD AND OTHER MATCHES
WELLINGTON TO VISIT HAWKES BAY.
The arrangement of the programme of inter-provincial Bugby football matches for the present season occupied the attention of delegates from the various Bugby unions to-day, this business being taken prior to the annual meeting of the New Zealand Eugby Union this afternoon. According to the list of fixtures which were pencilled in, Wellington is to be one of the early claimants for possession of the Eanfurly Shield, the intention being that a team be sent to play Hawkes Bay at Napier on the 14th August. A match with Wairarapa will be played at Wairarapa before the Wellington team meets Hawkes Bay. Later in the season both the Hawkes Bay and Wellington Unions will send teams on a tour of the South Island, and it is probable that Hawkes Bay ani. Wellington will meet again at Wellington on the 2nd October. Auckland is to pay, a visit to Wellington. Details of the fixtures tentatively arranged are as follow:— 3rd June.—Wanganui v.
