MIRAMAR SOUTH.

At the meeting of householders of the* South Miramav district, the school committee reported that accommodation had always been a sore point. A rapidlygrowing district and a short-sighted Education Department had not made £or the greatest efficiency in school work. On Btli March, following the first meeting of the first committee, Mr. Pope (acting headmaster) reported that the roll numbered 315, and that owing to lack of accommodation Standard I. was being taught in the corridor. The infants numbered 117, and that was the commencement of the school year. Cabinet had granted £1500 to provide two extra classrooms, and it was more than likely that the position would' be so bad by' the time this grant was transformed into extra classrooms that the school would still .bs overcrowded. There were still 123 children unprovided for. The- following committee was elected for the ensuing year:—Mesdames Bell and Bromley, Mossrs. J. T. Boxall, A. J. Choi-, ley, C. M. Deslandes, G. L. Paterson, C. 0. Toomcr, A. E. Turner, and Kingi Tahiwi. After considerable discussion the remit concerning school • stationery was passed.
