SEARCH FOR MISSING
LOST JAPANESE STEAMER.
(United Press Association.—Copyright.) (Australian-New Zealand Cable Assn.) TOKIO, Ist May.
A wireless message reports that a steamer picked up ninety-nine of those on board the Chichbu Maru, and these have reached land, but 150 are still missing. It appears that the crew attempted to escape in lifeboats when the vessel struck ground and broke her back, but a storm drove them seaward. The search for the missing continues.
