NEW ARRIVALS AT THE ZOO

A pair of kinkajou, a diminutive South American bear, secured by the Wellington Zoological Society, arrived by the Remuera on Friday, and w,ere on exhibition at Newtown Zoo yesterday afternoon. These little chaps are very similar to the racoons, with their long prehensile tails, short and crisp brown hair, and sharp-looking faces. They have a scientific name as long as may be, and one or two commonplace names as well, potto and honey bear, but, in spite of the name honey bear, they ara credited with carnivorous appetites and are nocturnal in habits.
