SCHOONER HOLMWOOD IN A PACIFIC GALE..

The schooner Holmwood, which arrived on Thursday afternoon a ?ter a twenty-two days' passage from Newcastle, had an extremely rough trip, and on Wednesday, with tattered sails, was caught in tho surf at Farewell Spit. Mountainous seas covered hor deck with sand and shells, and the truss of her foreyard was carried away, followed by the jaws of the main gaffe The second mate, Whitton, was-injured by flying timber. A change of wind at a critical moment enabled tho vessel to regain the open sea. '
