QUEEN'S THEATRE.
"The White Sister," the return season of which for one week only commenced last evening at the Queen's Theatre. It has been adapted to the screen from the widely read novel of the same name by F., Marion Crawford, and it glorifies the charm and art of Lilian Grish. Briefly, it is a love romance, beautifully sad. It possesses a striking spiritual quality., which not only lends a pronounced and'obvious distinc-' tion, but which also proves/to be very effective in that it leaves sweet memories. One aces the fascinating Angela promise to love her hero on the eve of his departure for Africa, and one sees her again having recovered from the news of his death in the far-off wild, loving the church where she found solitude and peace, and becoming one of its white sisters. Up., till within two minutes of the. ending not one person in the audience can foretell the conclusion. A sumptuous prologue, together with special music by the Queen's Select Orchestra, adds suitable embellishment to the entertainment. The box plans are open at The Bristol, or ring the theatre.
