Beporting to the Prime, Minister on the encouragement of industrial science, Sir Frank Heath (Secretary >f "the Department of Scientific and 'Industrial Besearch, London), Tecommends that the present Australian' Commonwealth Institute of Science and Industry be reconstituted at a cost in the first year of £40,000, in, the second year £50,000, and ultimately £100,000. ' , s,f ; He says that less scientific work has been done in Australian dairying .than - in any other branch of agriculture. He. urges the necessity for attention being given to better and more cheaply-pro-duced wool; declares that Australia1 should be hot only self-supporting' in timber, but a large'exporter of>it;.and.; favours an institute to ■ b.e i: established under special scientific, officers,.with.an agriculture section : attached, which should in the first instance t'e *'dairy research institute, also food;- v-forestry, fuels, and fisheries sections* and later such other sections as may be deemed necessary. .. ■ ; : " ' ' ..,.'/.'." v . ,"
