A GERMAN "DIE-HARD"
VON TIRPITZ" MAKES MAIDEN SPEECH.
(Auitralian-New Zealand Cable Assn.) (Received 24th March, 1 p.m.) .') , BERLINJ 23rd March. Admiral von Tirpitz made his maiden speech in the Reichstag, and was constantly heckled by. members of the Left parties,, especially, when- he declared that Germany, must withdraw her application for admission to the League, Otherwise, he said, "The trumps remain in the hand* of our adversaries. We should not play .with open cards." Everyone knew, .he: added; that Dr. Luther and Dr. Stresemann entered into a trap at Geneva. If their policy were continued, Germany: would become a French dependency; It was. imperative that Germany should follow the lead of the United States towards the League. The Chancellor, Dr.. Luther, vigorously replied, and declared that the United; States opinion was swinging towards Germany. If Germany withdrew her application, her.policy would stink in the nostrils of the world.
