A COVETED TROPHY

WON BY VICTORIA COLLEGE

IMPERIAL UNIVERSITIES' RIFLE MATCH—I92S.

Advice has just been received that the Victoria University rifle team has been successful in carrying off the coveted trophy for inter-varsity shooting throughout the Empire for 1925. In the 1924 match Victoria College was placed third (Sydney being first and Cambridge second), but they improved on that performance in the recent match by winning from Sydney by a narrow margin of two points. The performance of the local team is all the more meritorious when it is considered that they had to shoot for the match on the notoriously tricky Trentham range. ' : A double honour has been secured in that G. E. Parker's fine effort of 219 was the highest individual score in the match. Detailed results are as follows:— Victoria' College (New Zealand), 1614, 1; Sydney, 1612, 2; Perth (West Australia), 1381, 3; with London fourth, Edinburgh' fifth, and Rangoon sixth. These were the principal scores. Detailed scores of Victoria University College team were as follows (10 rounds at each practice—possible 250): Application— Rapid—
