HOSPITAL CLUB.

The annual meeting of the Hospital Club was held last week. Dr. A. T. Blair presided over a large attendance of members. The report congratulated members upon the success of the club during the past season. . The club did not win any of the competitions, but close and keen contests were provided by the players, and great interest was shown by the spectators. The team did well in the earlier portion of the season, but in the latter part there was a distinct falling away, probably due to that lack of attention to training. In the League .14 matches were played, of which 6 were won, 5, lost, and 3 drawn,, with goals for 40, and against 23. It was the intention of the club tc enter a boys' team, but owing, to a shortage of players it was found impossible to. do.;so. Included in the season's matches were several friendly games, the most notable of these being those against H.M.S. Dunedin, Seacliff, and Athletic (Manawatu). The report expressed regret at the departure of the president, Dr. Jeffrey!, who had gone to Nelson., His departure was a distinct loss, not only to the. club but to football generally in Wellington. The alterations to the ground have greatly improved the accommodation for spectators, and.it is hoped to still further increase their, comfort. The report also referred to the retirement of Mr. A. Williams, hon. secretary of the W.F.A. for over twenty years. The club desired to place on record its high appreciation of his work.
