INDIAN HOCKEY TEAM

TO PLAY HERE IN JUNE.

The coming visit to New Zealand of a team of hockey players from the Indian Army, comprised mainly of Sikhs, was discussed at some length at the annual meeting of the 'Wellington Hookey Association last evening. ,„•,•», v The hon. treasurer, Mr. AY. G. Morpeth, ■pointed out that although the majority of the players would be coloured, they were yet;.members of the British Empire, and their tour, judiciously arranged, could be made one of the most successful in the history of the game in New Zealand. Wellington had been promised a match, and, it would be necessary for the members of the association and the clubs generally to work solidly together to prevent ft loss on the fixture. Tho sale of tickets would have again to be undertaken, and carried through efficiently by all those concerned. A member suggested that each player •hould bo required to sell ten tickets. This was quite possible, he said, and would ensure the match being a financial success. The chairman (Mr. P. J. Atkinson) said that it was practically certain that the game would be play . in Wellington on 3vd June. It was almost assured that the Association code authorities would refrain . fr.om staging any important fixture on : thaf date, and the local P.ugby management would also be approached on the matter. Preliminary arrangements in connection with the match would b- discussed, at the first meeting of the new Management Committee.
