The first examinations held by the Institute of Mechanical Engineers in New Zealand was held last October in AuckZealand was held last October in Auckland. Two Dunedin- candidates sat and passed, ancl out of nine who sat in Auckland six passed. About the same number have applied for examination next October. The Auckland candidates who passed the studentship examination are Wilfred Ernest Meade, Michael O'Shea, Joseph William Solomon, Douglas Campbell Thomson, and William Watt, Athol Rudolph Mayhill and Douglas Caiinbell Thomson passed section A (a), modern languages, of the associate membership examination. Eoin Robert Garden, Auckland, and William E. M. Maxwell, Johannesburg, passed the associate membership examination, and John Davidson, Dunedin, passed section A only.
