TE WHARAU TRAGEDY

INQUEST CONCLUDED

"CLEARLY MURDER AND SUICIDE."

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) , DARGAVILLB, This Day._ There are no further developments in connection with the Te "VVharau tragedy. Tile inquest was concluded to-day. Evidence was . given' by the deceased Maori boy's mother and brother and several n.eighbours, none of whom could throw any light on the cause or motive for the boy's deed. It was stated that the boy Nathan, had some few days before the tragedy had trouble with his aunt,. Mrs. Tchuia. It was also'stated that he had often shown signs of bad temper, and was unduly . familiar with his aunt. The police and a detective, giving evidence, were of opinion that it was clearly a case of murder and suicide. After sumlning up, the Coroner returned a verdict that Elizabeth Maisie Tehuia died as the result of a gunshot wound inflicted by her nephew. Whether the wound • was inflicted wilfully or accidentally there was not sufficient cvideneo to show. Teddy Nathan's death was the result of a gunshot wound, apparently self-inflicted.
