The Department of Agriculture hu received the following cablegram, dated iOth February, from the High Commlsisoner for New Zealand, London ;~"Wool Mies closed Tuesday. Offerings toUUed 168,000 bales, of which 138,000 sold, Home trade taking 70,000, Continent 02,----000, and America 6000, Lower basil of merino prices at the commencement encouraged demand. Scoured ihowed most alteration. Crossbred met gopd competition and sold throughout at about December rates. Tendency firm at the close, and more confidence apparent. Compared with December rates merino better sorts part to 5 per ■ cent,, Inferior 5 per cent to 7% l>er cent., scoured (good) 10 per cent., inferior 15 per cent, lower. Crossbred unchanged. Average closing rates: 60 to C 4'» (merino). Is 5d to Is lOd; S6'l (super halfbred), It 5%d to Is 7d; 48 to SO's (fine crossbred). Is 4d to Is sd; 44 to 46's (medium crossbred), is 2%d to Is 3Hd; 39 to 40V (coarse crossbred). Is OVid to Is 2%d. Next aeries commences 9th March."
