OBTAINING A CERTIFICATE
4 _ ALEGED FKAUD. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) HAMILTON, This Day. An unusual charge of attempting to obtain a certificate under the Inspection of Machinery Act by fraud, by representing that he was in the employ of the-Matamata Cheese Factory from sth May till 20th November, 1925, whereas up to August of that period he was employed at the Wanganui Railway Workshops, was brought against a young man, Thomas Price, at Hamilton to-day. B. Barnes, manager of the factory at Matamata, 1; was charged with giving i Price a false testimonial' of service. Defendant* pleaded guilty.: It was shown that while on holidays Price assisted in the boiler-house of the Matamata Cheese Factory, and Barnes gave a certificate to assist- Price in securing, a billet. The Magistrate, Mr. Wilson, said defendants' had put their heads together to get Price a certificate falsely. It was serious for an unqualified person to get a certificate by fraud. Each defendant was fined £s.with costs.
