DANNEVIRKE SHOW

RECORD ENTRIES

LIST OF PEIZE-WINNEBS.

(By Telegraph.) (Special to "Th« Evening Post.")

PALMEESTON N., This Day.

The Dannevirke A. and P. Association's seventeenth annual show was opened yesterday. The weather was dull, but remained fine throughout. It must be admitted that the Show is one of the best yet held by the Dannevirke Association. The entries totalled 2438, which number does not include post entries, and constitutes a record. There was keen competition in most of the classes. The Jerseys, however, led the way in point of numbers. Prominent breeders were in evidence from every part of the Manawatu, Hawkes Bay, and Wairarapa. v

Of particular interest was the very beautiful display of cups presented to the association by many generous donors as points prizes in various sections of the Show, topping them all being the really magnificent 50-guinea Donald M' Donald Memorial Cup, subscribed for by admirers of the late Mr. M'Donald's 'splendid work for the association. As he was a consistent supporter of many classes, the cup, which is of solid silver, and is to have inscribed upon it a likeness of the deceased gentleman, is allocated as a perpetual challenge cup for the most points in the horse, cattle, sheep, pigs, and working collie .sections, the winner 's name each year to be engraved on the cup, which is never to be won outright.
