FIRST MEETING FOR THE COR

BENT YEAR.

The first meeting of the Board of Managers of the Petone Technical School was held last evening. Present: Messrs. D.M'Kenzie (chairman), W. Parkinson, S. Edilson, J. J. Lewthwaite, A. Greening, H. Morris, and W. B. Nicholson.

The M'Carthy Trust advised that the needs of the school- would be considered when die trust was dealing with the matter of grants in July next.

The action of the chairman in granting the use of the school buildings for the temporary accommodation of the Hutt Valley High School staff and pupils was cordially approved. It was decided to charge the High School Board the sum of £8 per month to cover the cost of cleaning and other charges incurred by the Technical Board on behalf of the High School Board.

The director reported that he anticipated an increase in the pupils for the current year. A new and greatly reduced scale of fees for paying pupils was approved, it being remarked that under the new regulations pupils under 21 years would pay only half fees. The treasurer reported that the school had a bank balance of some £65, '
