QUESTION OF PROSECUTIONS.

A few days ago at Hamilton, a man and his wife were convicted and ordered to pay t costs for/ having fa:!ad to make application, for enrolment under the provisions of the LegislMnra Amendment Act, 1924. This c-ae was brought as a warning t* peofile that they must recognise the necessity for enrolling. ,

The general question of proceeding against people for failing to register is at present under consideration, and a public announcement on the subject will be made at an early date. There is no desire on the part of the Department to harass anybody,, but the obligation is. upon qualified electors to see that their names are on the roll.

New machinery cannot be ex petted to run smoothly right from the commencement. Like Kipling's ship, it must "find" itself. In the,production of a newspaper the minor adjustments necessary in the process of "finding" are apt, however, to result in delays. "The Post," in spite of most careful preparation in the Installation of tho new printing press has had its share of theso delays in the past two days, and this is the explanation of lato delivery upon some runs. The causes of delay are being removed as speodily as possible, and "The Post," In thanking subscribers for the patience which most of them have shown, desires to assure them that, with everything in perfect running order, thero will soon ba no cause for complaint. Instead, there will be an improvement in the service, as it will be possible to expedite the delivery without depriving readers of the latest available news.
