RIFLE SHOOTING
ARMY MEETING NEXT MONTH.
The fourth annual meeting of the New Zealand Army Rifle Association will be held at Trentnam from 9th March to 12th March — t\\e week preceding the National ,Rifle Association's meeting. Complete arrangements have been made by the executive committee, and the meeting promises to be a most successful one. Unfortunately, on. account of the infantile paralysis epidemic, no meeting could be held last year, and this fact will make members of the Territorial Forces all the more keen to compete next month. The Army meeting differs ,vitally from the National meeting in that all the firing is done under service conditions. According to the official programme which has just been issued, the Association was founded in 1922 '"with the object of promoting interest in weapon training for service purposes by means of individual and collective competitions, framed as far as possible to induce practice in methods which will lead to increased efficiency on the battleield." An added feature this year will be the night-shooting, with 1 the Vickers,.. Lewis, and Hotchkiss guns. The annual prize meeting of the Wellington Regimental District will take place at Trentham on Saturday next, when the Territorials will compete, and on the following Saturday, when the cadets will compete.
