PROJECTED ICE RINK

NEW PASTIMES FOR LONDONEES. (From Our Own Correspondent.) LONDON, 11th December. The recent brief spell of outdoor skating on ice has aroused enthusiasm for tho pastime among skilled skaters, and the outcome is to be tho establishment of an ice-skiing rink in London, equal in size to any anywhere else. It is to be completed in time for the world's skating championship next year.

It is announced that the directors of the company (the London Ice Club, Ltd.) are Mr. S. L. Courtauld, Major J. S. Courtauld, M.P., Mr. J. R. Govett. Lord Francis Hill, and Mr. W. S. Keigwin. Lord Jellicoe, Viscount Donerailc, and many eminent men in the skating world have accepted invitations to bo members of the committee. The club is starting with £25,000 in cash.

The site secured for the premises is at the corner of .Tollmen rtreet ami Grosvenor. road, S.W. The. rink will be 170 ft long and 100 ft wiclc, or about the same length ami double the width of the old Prince's Club rink. Extensive r-d luxurious lounges, tearooms, v restaurant, an American bar, and dressing-rooms for both men and women members are to be built. An experienced chef will be in charge of the kitchens, and a full orchestra will be avp.ilabZs for members who wish to dance on the ice. A number of the world's leading skating instructors linvo been engaged, and the club will lie open fur six months iii each season—from October to March.
