LYALL BAY GALA
The special attractions for the Lyall Bay beach gala for the New Year will be races for tho parents of the children. At 2.30 p.m. on New Year's Day "Jim New Zealand" will be presented with the handsome cup, which she will hold lor one year. A special effort is being made for New Year's Eve, when a big confetti battle will be held to see the New Year in. Special arrangements are being made for trams and buses, so that everyone can be taken home without loss of time. The various side-shows are all g"oing at top, and several new ones have been introduced. The children's races will be held on New Year's Day and tlife day following, and also the sand-building competitions. Hot water is being provided free, so that people are advised' to come early and spend the day. Dancing is Being indulged in every evening, both in the open and under canvas, and excellent orchestras provide the music. All the dressing sheas' are available for bathers, and a constant watch is being maintained by the club teams so that people may bathe with the utmost confidence.
