THE THORN WINS SUMMER CUP.

AUCKLAND, 29th December.

The Summer Meeting of the Auckland Racing Club was continued yesterday in beautiful weather. The course waa in excellent order, and the racing was good throughout. There was a good attendance. FERGUSSON HANDICAP. Nippy was the only defection from the Fergusson Handicap, with which the programme opened. Star Area was a bigger favourite than My Hobby, with Shining Armour next fancied. My Hobby led out of the straight from Miss Vera, Kamehameha, Dminda, Star Area, and Mosaic. Along the back Miss Vera and Mosaic were together in front, with Da'nae, Kamehameha, My Hobby, Brushwood Boy, and Star Area following, while Shining Armour was last. straight; with Wenday almost on terms, Kamehameha, Danae, and My Hobby being next. Mosaic tired in the run home, and Star Area came through to beat Miss Vera by a length, with Wenday half a length away third. Kamehameha was fourth, with Mosaic, My Hobby, Danae, and Brushwood Boy next. THE KING'S PLATE. AH paraded for the King's Plate, Reremoana being a hot favourite, while Lady Ridicule and Mandane were next in request. The public selected the E laced horses as they finished. Merry lamon, Lady Ridicule, Reremoana, and Queen Arch was the order of the leaders as they passed the seven furlong post, but there was not a length betw.een them, while.Mandane and Ripon Abbey were just behind them. Queen • Arch was the leader across the top from Lady Ridicule and Reremoana, and it was the sanie entering the straight. Lady Ridicule then took charge, but Reremoana joined her at the distance, and beat her home by two lengths, with Mandane "four lengths further back third. ' Luqtillent was the only scratching for the Ponsonby Hurdle Race, and King's Guard, was' over twice as well backed as Crown, Coin, while Merry Singer was next , fancied. Pendennis was first to show out and led past: the stand from Kawa, Archibald, Merry Singer, Black Cruiser, and King's Guard, who fell at tha' hurdle just before turning out of the straight. Pendennis and Kawa were together in charge along the back, but at the hurdle near the five-furlong post Pendennis hit it hard, and Merry Singer went up second, with Pendennis, Archibald, Black Cruiser, Bright Light, and Crown Coin, who'was making up ground, next. Kawa was first to turn for home from Merry Singer and Archibald, the last-named falling at the last hurdle. Kawa went on to win by three lengths from Crown Coin, who beat Merry Singer by a length and a half. Black Cruiser,'Miss Melva, Bright Light, Pendennis, and Sea Comet were next. : THE SUMMER CUP. Maßter Doon and King Merv werti the first out, but across the top Nincompoop wail in charge from Black Cat, Finelli, King Merv, York Abbey, and Master Doon. Nincompoop was first to tura for home from Black Cat) King Merv, Gkritruih, Finelli, and York Abbey. Glentruin came through to 1 beat Black Cat by a neck, with Nmmompoop half a length away third. ■ Cawnpore, Pelham, Master Dooi, Civility, Appellant, and Dan Quin were next. PLUNKET WELTER. •Twenty-tWo faced the barrier for the Pllunket Welter. Sun Up was better backed than, Tall Timber, Gala Day being most fancied of the others. Alfort led along the back from Sun Up, King Smock, 1 Gold'Jacket, Ring the Bell, Gala Day, and-.Charlady. Sun up took charge before the straight was reached, but at the distance Talll Timber came tlirougli, while Transformer' finished fast' on' the outside.' The verdict was a head in' favour of Tall Timber/with The Lamb", a neck away third. Sim Up was fourth, with King Smock, Gala' Day, Sir Archie, Glenross, and Charlady following as named.
