NAI NAI AND EPUNI
The first general meeting of the Nai Nai and Epnni Ratepayers and Progress Association lince the inaugural meeting last August was held on Tuesday night in the Epuni Schoolroom* The president (Mr. Q. Mitchell) occupied the chair. The president's address dealt with the progress already made, and touched on the requirements of the future, particularly sewage and drainage. Mr. Hodgkins moved that the authorities concerned be approached regarding the Hutt River Board taking over jurisdiction of the whole of the Waiwetu Stream from its source at the beginning of the artificially constructed channels. The Hutt Power Board is. to be ap« proached regarding the provision of transformers in the district. It -was stated that one consumer had had twelve electric globes "blown out" since the power was turned on. Mr. Howard asked that the question ot drainage (surface water) in the Epuni district be taken up with the council. Mr. Dyer.was appointed to go into this question and report to the committee at its ne*t meeting. *
The constitution of the association was approved, practically as drafted by Mr. G G. G. Watson. Mr.' Watson is to be thanked, for- his valued services in this connection. Mr. George I. Judd is to be asked to accept the position of honorary auditor to the association.
The question of representation on the Hutt County Council was considered, and it was decided that of two candidates offering Mr. M. E. Denniston be nominated and supported by the association.
