At tlio annual meeting to-day of the Walrarapa Frozen Jlcut Company, which was formed two years agu to operate the freezing works formerly owned by the -WellinirtOn Farmers' .Meat Company (iv lUiiildaUon), the chairman, Jlr. \V. 1). Hunt, said it was not doomed advisable to pay a dividend this year, but to add the profit of S2IH7 to that of last year, niaklnj; a total'of £-17:)2. "The year under review will ko down In the meat history of this country as the host meat producers have ever had and one of tho worst, if not quite the worst, that the frozen moat companies and meat exporters have experienced," said Mr. Hunt. "From the stuck raisers' point of view, last season was climatically one of the. best ?Jew Zealand ever hurl The prices paid to growers for fat sheep and lambs were the hiKliest ever paid. The combination of splendid season -and splendid prices was a l-emarliablc one. We have never had such :i combination before," he said, "and it may be a lonf: timu before we have a similar one iigiiin. Freezing charges! were cut to din lowest point known since pre-war days, and are not far from the rates obtainable then. The rates were too low to he profitable. Those freezing; works Unit merely worked for a freezing charge and did not purchase any stock nn their own- ni-count were only able to come out on the right side by most careful management. Their experience, however, was happy when compared with that or Inlying companies ami exporters who have tilll lost heavily through liilllnK markets."
