The Department of Agriculture has received" the following cablegram, dated the 21th October, from tho High Commissioner for New Zealand, London:—

Butter.—Ueiunml continues slow with very little Jy'evv available, and quotations practically nominal. Present quotations arc: New Zealand; Firest salted, 21 Is to 21(is per cm (Is lid to Is lUid per lb) ; oxrculimul, 21Ss per cwt (Is HVid per lb). Unsalted, 214s to 218s per cwt (ls-lld to Is HV4d per lb. Other qualities, 2043 to 210s per cwt (Is o%d to Is lOVid per lb). : Salted, 20(is to 210s per cwt (Is lOd to Is lOViu per ib); unsaited, 2OSs to 210s per ewt (Is lOVIII to Is lU%d per lb). Other qualities, salted aud unsalted, 190s to 202s per ewt (Is SUd. to la O'/ud per lb). Canadian : • 2OSs per uwt (Is IOJd per lb). Argentine: L-n----saltcd. ISOs to l(I2s per cwt (Is 7»;d to is SJd per lh). Other qualities, 174s to IS-ls ficr cwt (Is GVdd to Is 7"'ml per lb). „ Checse,--."U.-vrkot firm. No official quotations for New Zealand, which is practically cleared, with tho exception, of a small supply on the West Coast.

Hemp.—-Manila market dull and declining during this week until late yesterday (Friday, the 23rd), when demand arose and prices have advanced, and business has been done with "J" grade October-December shipments £41 to £41 10s, November-Janu-ary shipments £41 10s, January-March shipments £42. New Zealand market quiet, high points sold down to £3S 10s sellers. Now withdrawn.

Woo).—Bradford market improved. Present quotations aro for tops:—B4's (merino) warp) -Is-tid, tJ4'.s (averngo) 4s 3d, sG's (super halfbrcd) 3s, SB's (halfbred) 2s 4/.d ■lO's (prepared) Is lOd.

Tallow.—-Market very flat. No auction this woek. Trices nominal to fid less at last quotations over all description's.
