MARTON PIGEON SHOOT

MABTON, 26th October. The Marton Gun Club'a open labour Day pigeon handicap was decided to-day. The weather conditions were not good, there being a varying light and occasionally a puzzling wind. The shoot resulted in J. Blythe (Wanganui), 12yds; P. M'Laehlan (Maaterton), 15yds; C. Hlston (Marton), 11yds; tieing with 20 birds each. The shoot-off resulted aa follows: Illston (13 birds), 1; M'Laehlan (12 birds), 2; Blythe (9 birds), 3.
For the Wellington provincial championship, 23 contestants were on the mark. Quartcrmain, M'Lachlan, Whittc, and lUston tied, with 19 fciids each. Quartcrmain was successful in the shoot-off, and won the championship.
