AUSTRALIAN SILVER BAND.
A_ private cable has been received stating that tho crowds which attended the final performance of the Australian Silver Band, -given in Sydney, prior to its departure on the' Maungarmi on Friday last for Wellington, enthusiastically demonstrated its appreciation of the bandls playing, and again and again called for encores from tho band and from the various soloists. Mr. Arthur Stender, tho cornet soloist, and Mr. Harold Reid, xylophonist,.were particular favourites with the audience, and responded to double encores. New Zealand people are to have an opportunity of hearing this combination, on its way to England, for the championship contests of 1926. The bandsmen will arrive to-morrow, and will open a season in. the Grand Opera House on Wednesday night. The plan is open at Tho Bristol.
