EASTBOURNE AFFAIRS
MEETING OF BOROUGH
COUNCIL.
The monthly meeting of the Eastbourne Borough Council was held last evening, under the chairmanship of the Mayor (Mr. H. M. Jones), the following also being present: Councillors J. F. Laing, S. Edilson, R, G. Holmes, H. Black, S. H. Jenkinson, and C. H. Andrews.
The Town Clerk reported that £671 9s 6d in rates had been paid and £367 8s 5d was still outstanding.
Receipts received during July. 1925 (figures for the sanie month last year being in parentheses) totalled £781 17s Id (£209 9s 8d). The chief items were: Rates £77 17s 7d (£1 Os 2d), Government subsidy £187 10s, transfer from new steamer loan £500.
Tho expenditure totalled £717 3s Id (£739 8s 9d). The chief ilems were: \\ Tages on street niainfoiianre £142 17s 5d (£92 13s Cd), street lighting £173 1s (£l3 2>i 4d), sanitation wages £67 10a (£72 18s 9d), interest on No. 2 loan £101 5s (£lOl ss), hospital and charitable aid levy £146 17s 9d (£lO3 3s lid). Tho total of receipts for four months ending 31st July was £1354 11s 3d (£574 4s sd), and the expenditure £1926 16s 8d (£2027 12s sd).
