WIRELESS FOR LIFEBOATS.
A very compact type of wireless installation for ships' lifeboats, specially designed to meet the new regulations of the Board of Trade, has been placed on the market by the Radio Communication Company, Ltd. . The whole of the transmitting and receiving/ apparatus is enclosed in a single strongly constructed watertight case, this being further protected by a heavy canvas coverirssf which is painted. Tho special design of this case, in which thewhole of the equipment is totally enclosed has successfully overcome the difficulty occasioned by having partly to expose the apparatus to tho weather during use. Thus, the set can be conveniently fitted either in a cabin or in an exposed position without further protection. The apparatus has been tested and has received the unqualified approval of tho Board of Trade and General Post Office authorities, and it is understood that orders have already been received from various shipowners for over 70 sets.
