AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIPS FINALS SEE SOME CHANGES. (BI rBLtGIIAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.) CHBISTCHUECH, 27th August. The finals of the New Zealand, amateur boxing championships were got oS at the Theatre Boyal this evening, and though the attendance waa better than on the previous, two nights, it still left much to be desired. Those present enjoyed a rattling good entertainment, each bout being fought with plenty of vigour, and the sportsmanship shown was excellent. F. L. Taylor, from Auckland, showed himself a good two-handed boxer, and easily annexed the bantamweight division. A good bout was also witnessed between Fulcher (Otago) and Morgan (Wellington) in the lightweight class, but the judge's verdict in favour of Morgan was distinctly hard to follow. Hooper, winner of the heavyweight class, is as fine a specimen of a man as it would be possible to find, and he shows a denl of aptitude for the sport. Following are the results :— Flyweight : C. Wood (Wellington) beat S. Purton (West Coast). Lightweight : E. Morgan (Wellington), 9st 91b, beat B. Fulcher (Otago), 9st .61b. Bantamweight : F. L. Nesbitt (Wellington). Bst lib, lost to F. L. Taylor (Auckland), Bst lilb. The referee stopped the fight in the third round. Heavyweight: B. Hooper (Wellington), list 31b, beat V. G. Barwick (Gisborne), 12st. The fight lasted less than a minute, when Hooper landed a heavy rt 'ht to the head. Barwick was counted out F« tbeiweight: M. Carroll (Manawatn), Bst 12tt>, lost to T. Griffiths (Otagoj, Bst 91b. Middleweight : C. Pocock (Christchiueh), lOst 121b, beat W. Stevens (Napier), lOst 91b. The judges disagreed, and a verdict in favour of Poco:k met with a very mixed reception. V'eherweight: E.
