The Belgains handed over the Duis-burg-Ruhort bridgehead at midnight, completing the evacuation of the sanctions area. The church bells in three towns rang, and cafes and cabarets were allowed to remain open all night. At midnight their orchestras played "Duetßchland JJb'er Alles," to a prodigious volume of singing..
