HORORATA'S CREW ON STRIKE

CHRISTCHURCH, 26th August. The trouble among crews of steamers on British articles has spread to Lyttelton. This morning the crew of the Hororata notified the master that unless the amount by which their wages were recently reduced vras restored they would cease work. As he was not able to grant their demands without instructions from the head office, the men left the ship. About 110 men are affected. They returned to the ship to-niglrb to sleep, but as the cooks and stewards have also gone out they will get no meals aboard.
