EMPRESS THEATRE.

The final screenings of "Alimony" and "The Hound of the Baskervilles" take place to-day at the Empress. "Alimony" is a scathing rebuke to those leading a jazz high life, the leading parts being taken by Grace .Darmond and Warner Baxter. "The Hound of the Baskervilles" is adapted from one of Sir A. Conan Doyle's most famous detective stories. The part of Sherlock Holmes is taken by Eille"Norwood, the famous English actor who has made a specialty of this particular type of acting.. The supporting pictures are all good. The programme commencing to-morrow will be headed by two features, "Salvage" and "Fires of Fate," and an outstanding supporting picture will be "Trouble Brewing," a Larry Semon comedy. The main' thread of the story in "Salvage," a Robertson Cole' production, is sustained by an all-star cast which includes Pauline Frederick, Milton Sills, Ralph Lewis, and Raymond Hatton. The acreen has never seen acting of a more compelling or aincere nature than Miss Frederics dnvosts in her broad powerful interpretation of the woman who is deprived of her greatest happiness. The settings aro gorgeous, and the gowns worn by the star will be a revelation to the feminine fancy. The ambitious British film production,' _'Fire 3of Fate," a Master Picture, is an adaptation of a story written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, first as a 'novel, "The Tragedy of the Korpiko," and afterwards as a play, "Fires of Fate.", A fine cast includes Wanda Hawley and Nigel Barrie. ■
