RESERVE BROKEN DOWN
OHRISTCHUB.CH, 17th August. The barrier of reserve between the Ohrittchurch public and sailor* from the
fleet has now almost completely disappeared, and in its place there has developed a keenness among citizens to outdo each other in the matter of hospitality, to the visitors. It is now a rare sight to see sailors unaccompanied by civilians. Yesterday Rear-Admiral Schofield and a party paid a visit to Kapaki, and were entertained with true Maori hospitality. A daughter of the chief, Mxs. Tainui, asked the Admiral's acceptarjee of a handsome piu piu, with which iflie proceeded to invest him.
