At its next meeting the Featherston County Council will consider » notice of motion to appoint a permanent engineer.
The institution of the Star of Carterton Lodge, 1.0.0. F., N.Z., will take place at Carterton this evening. The ceremony will be performed by the Worshipful Grand Master of New Zealand, Bro. D. R. Cooper, of Auckland, assisted by District Officers of Welling* ton and Masterton.
The visiting Australian Hockey teitt . will be entertained at a social gathering during tljeir visit to Carterton by the local club.
The Bcv. W. J. Durrad will be inducted as vicar of St. John's Church, Fe»therston on Thursday evening. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Archdeacon Hansell.
Mr. and Mis. J. T. Graham, of Parkvale, and their family, are about to remote to' Wellington, where they will in futurn reside. ■ At a. social gathering, Mr. B. Roberts, chairman of the dairy factory, on behalf of the settlers, presented them with a Doulton afternoon tea service and a travelling rug. .
