MAGISTRATE'S COURT
Several first offenders for drunkenness were convicted by Mr. W. G. Riddell, S.M., nt the Magistrate's Court this morning, and former offenders were dealt with as follows : —
George Arthur Cha'ftes Gibbs, found drunk in Courtenay j/lace, with a number of previous convi/tions, was convicted and fined 40s anil prohibited.
James Jiorssimi, uliu did not appear, was fined 10<s, or ii/i default twenty-four hours' impritfonmc/it, for dninkt-Miioss.
William .Tohil If/ay, a first offender I'nr drunkenness, war/ convicted and discharged for that offence, but stated that he did no/, remember refusing to quit the Alhai/ibra Hotel when asked to do so by /Tathlecn Whelan, a servant of the li/trnsce.
