DEFALCATIONS ALLEGED
BANK MANAGER UNDER ARREST
AT STRATFORD.

STRATFORD, 7th August. William Kerr, formerly a bank manager, was arrested this afternoon, and charged before Justices of the Peace "that on or about Ist July, 1925, at Stratford, being a servant of the Union Bank of Australia, he stole the sum of £495 in money, the property of the bank." Detective J. Wash, of. Wellington,, applied for a remand, stating that he was instructed to ask that bail if granted be made substantial, as other charges wero pending. The total sum involved, he alleged, was over £6000. A remand until 14th August was granted, bail being allowed in accused's own recognisance £300, and two sureties of £150 each.
