GRADE CONTESTS

POSITIONS OF THE TEAMS.

Competition throughout the various grades of local football this season has been remarkably keen, the tables showing that the ultimate results of the championships are still very open. Poneke have a three-point lead from Petone and University in the senior grade. Berhampore occupy first place in the junior grade, but they have played two more matches than Athletic, who are only a point behind. On tho same mark as Athletic are Old Boys, who Have played nine .matches, and only a point below, are three teams, with others in close attendance. In * this third grade there are two unbeaten teams, Old Boys and Athletic. The latter have dropped a point as the result of a drawn game. The intermediate grade table also shows two unbeaten teams—BerhamjJore and Poneke. Berhampore have a two-point lead by reason of a game more than Poneke. In the fourth grade three" teams stand without a defeat—Petone A, Oriental A, and Wellington A. Pe-' tone have played one more game than the other two unbeaten teams. ; The position in the fifth grade is much the same as in the fourth,' thrae teams haying won all their . games—Wellington College A, Athletic, and Petone A. Again, in the sixth grade there is an unbeaten trio—St. Patrick's College A and Wellington College'A and B. Technical A have scored a maximum of championship points in the seventh grade, while :■ Wellington (; College B have dropped only one point through a drawn game. Wellington College.
