PORT NICHOLSON BAND.

The Sunday night recital, to be given in the Grand Opera House to-morrow by the Port Nicholson Band, promises to be one of the most successful yet arranged by this popular combination.. The band has appeared many times before tho Wellington public, and has secured a large following by reason of the excellence of its recitals. In addition to attractive band numbers, the management has been fortunato in securing somo of tho most talented artists in tho Dominion, including Mr. Charles Hawthorne, who has sung at the Queen's Hall, London, as well as the Colliseum and tho Alhambra, and who is at present a member oE the Maurice Moscovitch Company. He is appearing by the courtesy of J. C. Williamson, Ltd. Miss Kathleen Jansen, a brilliant mezzo-soprano, who has achieved success in England and Aus- j tralia, is making her first appearance at these recitals. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Russell, who need no introduction to Wellington audiences, will also be heard in individual numbers, and in a duet entitled "I'll Meet You Half-way." An item. that, should attract attention will be (lie singing of Massenet's "Elegio," by Mr. T. j. Jcnkiu?, Wellington's popular tenor, with a, flute obbligalo by Miss •TeaJi. Turner. Tho accompaniments will bo in the capable hands of Mr. Frank E. Crowlhcr. The band item 3 include the over-popular "Maritana" and Rossini's overture "Tancredi," as well as other popular numbers. With such an admirable programme to attract lovers of good music, intending patrous are advised to be early in order to secure a seat.
