The action between John Burns and Co., Ltd., and the New Zealand Shipping Company, Ltd., covering a. claim i'or_ £182 for damage sustained in corrosion in a shipment of American wire brought to New Zealand in 1923, was continued before Mr. Justice Ostler and a special jury at the Supreme Court to-day. The morning was spent in the hearing of expert evidence concerning ventilation, effect* of gases, causes of and extent of corrosion in iron and zinc, and the amount of zinc necessary to give protection. It was stated that the wire in question was covered with about half an ounce of zinc to the square foot. The expert evidence was to the effect that one ounce of zinc to the square foot was about the minimum reasonably to be expected in fencing wire.
