WANTED TO GO TO FRISCO
A youth aged 20 pleaded guilty in the Magistrate's Court to-day to a charge of having stolen from the steamer Tahiti a pair of trous- •
ers, a pair of boots, and a raincoat, valued at £8, the property of William John Hutt. The Sub-Inspector said that accused had entered a cabin on the Tahiti on Sunday morning, and was found by one of the crew trying on the clothing: When spoken to by the police, accused said he was endeavouring to get away to San Francisco, and wanted a new suit. Mr. Leo Denne, who appeared for accused, stated this was accused's first appearance before the Court, and that he was not normal mentally. ' Accused had endeavoured to get work in Wellington without success, but that hie mind was now disabused of the idea ot going to San Francisco. The youth's parents had undertaken to keep him under proper surveillance, and see that lie had medical attention. - The Magistrate entered a conviction,, and ordered accused to come tip for sentence if called upon within three ■months, and directed that accused's name be'suppressed from publication.
