SUBURBAN RAILWAYS
TO THE EDITOR.
Sir, —I began to read with interest the article' on concession tickets on . the Hutt line in Friday's issue, but discovered, as usual, the residents of Helling, Lower Hutt, and Petone only are to benefit thereby. Cheaper fares mean as much to the home-makers in Belmonfc, Pitcaithley's, etc., as to those who reside in the Hutt, so why should we not be included in the concession tickets? Eecently, the steam train has been introduced, but, of course, it must stop at Melling! I.wonder why? I understand it to be an advantage to the cities when the suburbs are populated, but how can the authorities expect such to happen vhen_ every obstacle is "placed in the way for easy access to town? Again, no train homo between 6.14 p.m. nnd 9.30 p.m. Improve tho service and encourage the workers by concession tickets all down the Hue, and there will soon be more room in tho city.—l am, etc., otjW ADA SPENCER, 23rd May.
