WATCHING THE MILK
Milk coming into Wellington City continues to beclosely watched. For the innelve- ■I?lonths endetl 3ist March last, 1297 samples were taken for Hie purposes, of analysis. Arising out of these investigations were 38 warnings given to vendors, and -30 prosecutions. In the cases of milkmen who were warned Jtwas found that 15 samples of thoir milk contained added water and 23 samples of milk were helow the required standard. In the cases which were taken to Court, it was stated that nine had had recourse to the pump to amplify the stock of milk, and tlier.i were 21 who were selling milk of „ quality below the legal standard.
