NEW PLYMOUTH, 25th May
William Gillbanks, 80 years o[ age, living at Ngamolu, collapsed suddenly this morning. Gillbunks rose as usual, but fell on tho floor of his room and died immediately. It is understood'he. had been receiving medical attention lately, and an inquest will not be ne'eessarv.
A Purangi settler, Carl Woisin, is believed to have been drowned in the Wnilnvii River while booking logs which were being brought down by the flood waters. Woisin was a married man with nine children. A -search was carried on without success. It is thought the body lias been carried down the river, probably to tho sea.
TAUMARTJNUI, 25th May. A car 'returning from the Taumarunui races collided with a cart in the main street this evening. The car capsized, and "Skipper" Ryan, n "well-known jockey, received injuries to the head which necessitated' several stitches. OAMARU, 25th May. Moira Cant, aged about 17 years, daughter of Mr. David Cant, farmer, oE 'Pnpui, nineteen miles from Oamarn, was thrown from a. horse when returning from school to-day and killed.
