PRINCIPAL ROADS DAMAGED.
OPOTIKI, This Day
Extensive damage lias been done to" the principal roads in Opotiki County. There were lmqe slips and washouts in the Upper Waioeka road, cut-tins; off the settlers inlstnd. The Opotiki-Motu road is also blocked "by numerous large slips- and several washouts, including s~ix slips between Opotiki and Toatoa. The tele-phone-.liiies arc down between Toatoa and -Motu. A gang of Public Works men left Opotiki by lorry to-day to clear the slips between Opotiki and Toatoa. There are several cases of live slock being drowned on the Opotiki flats during the flood.
