TERAWHITI TO THE SCENE

The Union Company's 260-ton tug* Terawhiti, was prepared for sea yesterday ' and was dispatched to Wangamii at 7 o'clock this morning. This powerful vessel has rendered valuable assistance in former cases of stranding.

The Cyrena, which, has been a visitor to this port in the past, on the present trip loaded her full cargo of oil at Singapore, and proceeded to Audiland, where she arrived on 15th May. Part.cargo was discharged at the northern port and the Cyrena left Auckland on Wednesday morning last for Wanganui, arriving in the roadstead on Saturday night. She had for discharge at tho Castlecliff-wharf 8000 cases of oil, and -was then, to complete discharge at Bluff, Dunedin, and Lyttelton. Captain D..R. Paterson is master of the Cyrena, and his officers are: Chief, Mr. L. Y. Lee; second, Mr. J. Adama; third, Mr. W. Rosa; chief engineer, Mr. A. D. Christie; second, Mr. J. M'Govem; third, Mr. C. J. Millmore, fourth Mr. Gw ,H.-,Lake,.-.-The--Oyrena'a crew are all Chinese. ■ '

The Cyrena was built in 1913 by Messrs. W. Gray and Co., Ltd., of West Hartlepool, and her machinery, which is carried aft, is. by the Century Marino Engineering Works, also of West Hartlepool. Her principal dimensions are; 2138 tons gross, 1214 tons net length 288.2 ft, beam 39ft, depth 19.9 ft. Her equipment is of the most moderri type and includes electric lighting and wireless.
