"KEEP TO THE LEFT."
"Pedestrian" writes : —"I wonder what has become of tho' machine for marking a line down the centre of the footpaths in the city, and the police.patrol to enforce the bylaw under pain of a penalty. Do the authorities realise their impotence., such it seems to me, or . alternatively, are they too apathetic to enforce it? It is necessary now, and in a few years, with onr narrow footpaths, the congestion will be ieplorable. I make bold to say that women are the chief offenders on account of their shopping propensities. Some of them deliberately pass along the wrong side, and when about to he challenged by one who is passing on the proper side", just 4^'op and look in a shop window, to avoid being politely reminded to keep to the left. 1 trust the citizens will pee the importance of this matter, and keep to the left."
